Song For The Day: Tuesday 22nd January 2013

So I was supposed to have a really productive day today. Third year deadlines are drawing ever nearer, and I defiantly sprang the day playing Minecraft with Smokey. But! On the the plus side we found a fucking crazy mine and when Dulcie joined us we absolutely bossed it :) any way this song has been in my head all day, it’s could be because zane was going on about her featuring in disclosures new track, either way this track is incredible, she’s tipped as a one to watch in 2013 form the BBC and other such tastemakers.

So a couple days ago I signed up to this DJ Promotion Website, which basically sends you all of the promo’s of tracks so you can DJ them out and about before they go on general release. i downloaded a Few bits and bobs but this one stuck out the most. I first came across this guy when he produced Tinie Tempah’s Debut track, Pass Out, and from there he has gone on to be one of the most Prolific Producers / Artist to come out of the UK in many years. check this track out, its his take on the NWA Classic Express Yourself, set to be a massive summer anthem I have no doubt.

Song For The Day: Tuesday 15th May 2012

So following on from yesterdays study session with the First Lady, I discovered this track as well, it has that very Synthy Downtempo Jazz vibe, like Trip-Hop but not so cold, very similar to the likes of Jai Paul. anyways, when the Synth kicks in in the track I cannot stop bobbing my head. I love the way the track builds, and still remains very simple.

So me and and the first lady have been having a massive study day today, managed to get 2500 words on the night i am heavily involved in. I don’t know about anyone els but when I’m studying I find that Radio is a mans best friend. Personally I’m a massive fan of the Zane Lowe and today I was listing back to him in the Verses, and it was Vs Greg James, easily my favourite Daytime DJ on Radio 1, and he chose this little Gem of a tune, they are a very new band hailing from the Mecca of rising UK music that is Bristol. Anyways, this tune speaks for itself I think, give it a go, it reminds me of James Blake a lot, grab it for free from there Facebook page, Winning!!

So today track comes from an EP I have been gagging for, I have never wanted to listen to an EP so much in my life before. I woke up this morning, first thing I did was jump on iTunes and Purchase it (Also available for free from there website, but support little bands). I left the house to go to work, put my headphones on, and the batteries were flat, nightmare, got to the garage to buy some more, and the bloke behind the counter gave me the wrong size, Nightmare #2, I didn’t have enough time to go and swap them, I was already running late for work, i thought, its fine I will get some more on lunch and listen then, that was until I got on lunch and realised that my headphones, my babies, were in fact broken (Again), Nightmare #3. So by the end of my working day I finally got some new batteries, and a new set of beats, set for the walk him, after all this build up, I was really hoping that this EP would be worth the wait, and fuck me, it is. I do have one bad thing to say about it, its not long enough, i cannot wait for an LP now, this is by far the most promising EP to come from any rising indi band since Bloc Party’s first EP back in May 2004, I really love how it takes influences from everywhere, clearly a Hip-Hop influence, and also a massive influence from the likes of Portishead and Massive attack, Trip-Hop for the 21st Century. This is my faveroit cut from the EP (Bar Female Robbery & Sweater Weather, the first two singles) it’g got a really catchy Hook and a beat that will keep you head nodding the whole way through. keep an eye out on this band, my tip is that they will be Fuckign huge, all the need is to come and do some UK gigs.

Song For The Day: The Neighbourhood - Wires

Song For The Day: Thursday 3rd May 2012

So I woke up this morning with this track in my head, I rolled over to ask the lovely lady in my bed what the track was, as I had no idea of the artist nor the track, all i knew was that it was a cover of the incredible band “Arcade Fire”. she informed me of the information i needed and instantly made a purchase on iTunes. its a wonderful Half Tempo cover, very Dub Influenced, but with the most euphoric Vocals. anyways, nuff talking, let the track speak for itself.

Song For The Day: Saturday 28th April 2012

So tonight was my step mothers 50th birthday party, hosted back home in Winchester. One of the best bits about going home is the amount of new music I get to listen to and absorb. This album came out on Monday and is absolutely incredible, this artist was one of the soul reasons I got into Drum & Bass and every one of his albums has been great, but this one is really fantastic. All the tracks are great but this one has been in my head all day. Enjoi!

So I woke up this morning hearing the original of this, so it was in my head from the word go, later on I was buying some music, and remembered that these lads had done a remix of it, two very promising young lads from south London, we focused on them last summer with there track ‘Blue You’ which was one of my summer smashers last year they. This year they have a new EP on the way and they have really put themselves on the map with this remix, the original artist is also getting a lot of love on this blog currently it’s set to be a big 2012 for both people. Enjoi!

I’m currently rather drunk and watching the Mystery Jets at Moles in Bath, what better time to write a blog post, this tune has been a point of interesting for a couple of days now, it’s incredible and a very close friend of mine is a big fan of her, I know more  about the producer but the tune is incredible, really looking forward to hearing more from here, previously working with the Badman that is Breakage on his single Fighting Fire, this tune shows the other side to her sound, still absolute incredible. Cleay a fantastic Career ahead of her

So i caught this last week on Annie Mac’s show on friday night, and fell in love with it, its really quirky, and kinda Genre less, always a big fan of things which refuse to fit into a Box, I will let the track do the talking, big tune, it has kept me going whilst I have been putting all the ISMISM Mixes on to iTunes and Web designing. Anywhoo Enjoi!

So Those that follow this blog will know that i came across this artist last year when going to see Darwin Deez with Smokey Joe, since then he has had three very successful singles and an album is due to drop next month. This is the latest single, its absolutely fantastic, i will be lucky enough to see him twice this summer and cannot wait to see what his album has to offer, for now, this tune will have to do. Enjoi!

So I first heard this tune through my mate Badger who works for Shogun Audio, and instantly liked it, I then heard Tony play it on the Hospital Podcast, then Friction opened it up the last Shogun Podcast with it, now I love it, incredible half-beat vocal Drum & Bass, turning the Minimal sound Maximal. This track comes out next week on Shogun Audio and is the first single taken from there forthcoming Debut Album due out at some point later this year. For now this is an incredible price of music, Both high octane for the club and chilled for the living room with a cup of tea. Enjoi!
